Kenneth
von Heidecke, considered protégé of America's most legendary
Prima Ballerina, Maria Tallchief, has choreographed over 60 ballets and 50
operas throughout Europe and the US. Currently, a documentary on his life
and career is being filmed for television and arts festivals. He is listed
in the Library of Congress’ Who’s Who and his works have been
seen at the New York City Opera, Lincoln Center, Scotland’s prestigious
Edinburgh Festival, the Kennedy Center’s Washington Opera, Los Angeles
Music Center, San Diego Opera, Dallas Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and San
Francisco Opera. His choreography for Lyric Opera’s production of Antony
and Cleopatra was nationally televised on Great Performances. In 1995, he
served as Ballet Master to the US Olympic Gymnastics Team and in 1997, Germany’s
prestigious Badisches Staatstheater invited him to choreograph a full evening
of ballets, which received a 20-minute ovation, and rave reviews in several
European publications. In 1998, his choreography of “Dance of the Hours”
in Lyric Opera’s La Gioconda received critical acclaim in the Wall Street
Journal, New York Times, etc.
In 1990, he founded the Von Heidecke Chicago Festival Ballet, which tours extensively and has performed the Nutcracker at the Harris Theater for Music & Dance at Millennium Park in Chicago. In 1998, the Mayor of Miami Beach awarded him the "Key to the City" on stage at the Jackie Gleason Theater for the Performing Arts. As a dancer, he was chosen by Maria Tallchief to appear in the world premier of George Balanchine's Orfeo ed Euridice. He continued under Miss Tallchief's tutelage to dance a wide array of the Balanchine repertoire and performed the classics around the world as a guest dancer.
In 2006, the National Ballet of Panama invited him to choreograph a full-length
ballet of Dracula and the production premiered to incredible reviews in every
newspaper of Panama. Recently, he has choreographed Aida for the San Diego
Opera, Cinderella in Oklahoma and Ariodante for San Francisco Opera. His recent
choreography of Samson and Delilah for the San Francisco Opera has been playing
in movie theaters across the nation this Spring. He is featured in the documentary
on the life of Maria Tallchief, which premiered at the Gene Siskel Theater
last month and has appeared on numerous television programs for WGN, ABC,
WTTW, NBC and PBS. In April of this year, he was inducted into the "Fox
Valley Arts Hall of Fame.”

Universally
known as America's Prima Ballerina, she is among six women in the history
of ballet to have received the title "Prima Ballerina Assoluta".
Miss Tallchief is listed in the encyclopedia and is the topic of many books.
She was also recently the recipient of the Kennedy Center Awards for the Arts
in 1998 and the Presidential Award in 1999.
